450 grams of All-purpose Flour (approximately 4 cups)
2 teaspoons of Salt (9 grams)
2 tablespoons of Olive Oil (or other vegetable oil)
Additional flour for kneading
Instructions:
In a bowl, mix dry yeast with warm water and let it activate.
Slowly add 1 cup of flour to the yeast mixture, then mix in 2 teaspoons of salt and continue adding flour until a dough forms.
Add 2 tablespoons of oil and knead the dough until it becomes shiny and stretchy, adding more flour if needed.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size (about 1 1/2 hours).
Punch down the dough, knead for 2 more minutes, then divide into 8 equal portions.
Shape each portion into a ball and form them into "Bolillos" shapes on a floured surface.
Transfer the Bolillos to a baking tray lined with parchment paper, brush with oil, cover, and let them rise again until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
Preheat the oven to 225°C, make cuts on the Bolillos, and bake for 25-30 minutes, starting at 225°C and then reducing the temperature to 190°C.
Add water to the tray below the Bolillos before baking and during baking to create steam.
Once golden brown, remove from the oven, cover with a cloth for 5-10 minutes, then cool on a rack. Enjoy your homemade Bolillos!
