Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon table salt
  • 3/4 cup + 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 1 1/2 pounds coarsely ground pork
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 6 oz mozzarella cheese
  • Cornmeal

Instructions

  1. Make the dough by combining flour, sugar, yeast, salt, water, and olive oil. Let it rise for 2 1/2 hours.
  2. Prepare a no-cook sauce by mixing tomato sauce, tomato paste, sugar, Italian seasoning, fennel seeds.
  3. Make the sausage by combining ground pork, fennel seeds, salt, garlic, black pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Let it marinate for at least an hour.
  4. Roll out the dough into two 12-inch rounds, top with sauce, sausage, and mozzarella cheese.
  5. Bake at 500 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-14 minutes until the cheese is dark brown.
  6. Let the pizza cool for 5 minutes before cutting into squares.
