DIY Birdseed Cakes

Ingredients
- Birdseed
- 1 packet of unflavored gelatin
- Water
- Cupcake liners or muffin pan
- Non-stick spray
- String (optional)
Instructions
- Mix one packet of unflavored gelatin with two tablespoons of cold water. Wait for one minute.
- Stir in one-third of a cup of boiling water until the gelatin is completely dissolved.
- Add two cups of birdseed to the gelatin mixture and coat the birdseed evenly.
- Fill individual cupcake liners or a muffin tin with the mixture. If using a muffin tin, spray with non-stick spray.
- If hanging the cakes, cut lengths of string and place them in the cups before filling with the mixture.
- Fill the cups halfway with the mixture, place a piece of string if hanging, and continue filling with the remaining mixture.
- Refrigerate the cakes overnight.
- Remove the cakes from the liners and hang them in your yard to attract birds.
- Use the Merlin Bird Guide app or field guides to identify the birds that visit your yard.
- Enjoy birdwatching and learning about the different bird species in your area.
