Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until well combined.
Optionally, divide the dough in half and add red food coloring to one half and green food coloring to the other half for a festive touch.
Roll the dough into balls and place them on a baking sheet. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.
Bake the cookies according to the specified time or until they are lightly golden brown.
