Ingredients
- 1 egg
- ground meat
- chapuur
- butter
- flour
- Alpro Soy Milk
- salt
- black pepper
- nutmeg
- chili flakes
- tomato purée
- fresh parsley
Instructions
- Prepare the Meatballs: In a large bowl, combine the ground meat with 1 egg, chapuur, and seasonings such as pepper, basil, and potentially salt. Mix the ingredients together until well combined.
- Prepare the Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Form the Meatballs: Roll the meat mixture into small meatballs, about the size of a golf ball or slightly smaller. Place the rolled meatballs onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the Meatballs: Bake the meatballs in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) for approximately 18 minutes.
- Make the Sauce: In a pot over medium heat, melt a good lump of butter. Once the butter is melted and bubbling, add flour to create a roux. Whisk the flour and butter together for about a minute.
- Add Soy Milk: Gradually add Alpro Unsweetened Soy Milk while continuously whisking to create a smooth béchamel-like base. Let the sauce thicken.
- Season the Sauce: Season the sauce with salt, freshly ground black pepper, nutmeg, and chili flakes. Add tomato purée to the sauce and whisk everything together until the sauce is a uniform color and has thickened.
- Combine and Finish: Once the meatballs are baked and the sauce is ready, add the baked meatballs to the pot with the sauce. Stir gently to coat all the meatballs in the sauce and allow them to simmer to absorb the flavors.
- Serve: Transfer the meatballs and sauce to a large serving dish and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
