Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius and line a baking tray with baking paper.
Cook bacon and onion in oil over medium-high heat for about 3 minutes until bacon browns. Remove mixture from heat and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine bacon mixture, softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, tasty cheese, French onion soup mix, chopped chives. Season with salt and pepper.
Cut the top off the bread loaf about 4cm from the top. Remove soft bread from the center, leaving a 2cm border.
Tear the bread into 3cm pieces and place on a tray.
Fill the loaf with the dip mixture and replace the top. Bake for 20 minutes until golden and crisp.
Serve by removing the top, sprinkling with chives, and serving with crispy bread and veggie sticks. Enjoy!
