Spicy Jamaican Patty

Ingredients
- 1 and 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon of sugar
- 1 beef bullion cube
- 2 tablespoons of turmeric
- 3 tablespoons of cold butter
- 4 ounces of room-temperature water
- Garlic
- Green onions
- 1 scotch bonnet pepper
- Thyme
- Paprika
- Curry powder
- Ground pepper
- Salt
- Onion
- Breadcrumbs
- Ground beef
- 4 tablespoons of water
- 2 tablespoons of ketchup
- 1 egg
- Water
Instructions
- Mix together the all-purpose flour, sugar, beef bullion cube, and turmeric until well combined.
- Add in the cold butter using a cheese grater and work it into the flour with your fingers until the flour looks nice and slight.
- Add in the room-temperature water and work your fingers with the flour until you form a nice dough like a play-doh texture.
- Form a ball with the dough and cover it with saran wrap. Put it in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
- Cook the onion in half a teaspoon of peanut oil until it is translucent. Add in the garlic and cook for about 2 minutes.
- Add in the green onion, scotch bonnet pepper, and thyme. Cook for about 30 seconds.
- Add in the ground beef little by little and cook until it is nice and gray with no more pink color.
- Add in the paprika, curry powder, ground pepper, salt, and breadcrumbs. Mix it all together.
- Add in 4 tablespoons of water and let it simmer until it is nice and thick.
- Add in 2 tablespoons of ketchup and mix it all together.
- Roll out the dough and make four patties.
- Add the ground beef filling to the center of each patty and use your finger to close it.
- Use a fork to add some design and seal it some more.
- Make an egg wash by mixing one egg with a little bit of water.
- Brush the egg wash on the patties.
- Bake the patties on 350 for 20 minutes.
- Let the patties cool and enjoy!
