Ingredients
- For the Bun Dough
- Warm milk
- Warm water
- Caster sugar
- Yeast
- Bun flour or cake flour
- Salt
- For the Pork Filling
- Fresh pork mince
- Red onion
- Spring onion
- Fried shallots
- Black fungus or any mushroom
- Oyster sauce
- Fish sauce
- Ground white pepper
- Salt
- Sugar
- For the Surprises Inside
- Quail eggs
- Chinese sausage
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining warm milk, warm water, caster sugar, and yeast. Let it sit until foamy.
- Mix the yeast mixture with bun flour, salt, and knead the dough until smooth. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Prepare the pork filling by combining pork mince, red onion, spring onion, fried shallots, black fungus, oyster sauce, fish sauce, white pepper, salt, and sugar.
- Form pork balls with quail eggs and Chinese sausage inside.
- Roll out the dough, wrap it around the pork filling, and seal to form buns. Let them rest for a second rise.
- Steam the buns for 10-15 minutes on medium heat until fluffy and cooked through.
