2 cans of apple pie filling (Comstock brand recommended)
Dolce de Leche caramel sauce
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla
Canola or vegetable oil for frying
For the glaze: 2 cups powdered sugar, 1/4 cup hot water, pinch of salt, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions:
Mix apple pie filling, caramel sauce, salt, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla in a bowl.
Heat oil to 350-375°F for frying.
Fill empanada dough with apple filling, seal edges, and fry until golden brown (about 4 minutes per side).
Drain fried pies on paper towels.
Prepare glaze by mixing powdered sugar, hot water, salt, and vanilla until smooth.
Brush or drizzle glaze over warm fried pies.
Serve and enjoy the salted caramel fried apple pies fresh.
