Yellow Dal Tadka

Ingredients
- Yellow moong dal
- 2 tomatoes (about 100 grams)
- Salt
- Turmeric powder
- Water
- Ghee
- Whole cumin seeds
- Mustard seeds
- Freshly chopped ginger
- Freshly chopped garlic
- 1 green chili
- Curry leaves
- Hing (asafoetida)
- Fresh coriander
Instructions
- Wash the yellow moong dal in a colander under running water.
- In a pressure cooker, add the washed dal, chopped tomatoes, salt, turmeric powder, and water (about 500 ml).
- Cook in the pressure cooker on medium flame for 10-15 minutes or until two whistles.
- Optionally, for a smoother consistency, run the cooked dal through a sieve.
- In a kadai, heat ghee and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, ginger, garlic, green chili, curry leaves, and hing. Cook until fragrant.
- Pour the tadka mixture into the cooked dal and mix well.
- Add fresh coriander and mix again.
- Serve the Yellow Dal Tadka with rice or chapati. Enjoy!
