Ingredients

• Raw materials from disassembling a planet (Mercury is the best candidate)
• Solar collectors (one square kilometer of mirrors or traditional solar panels)
• Miners
• Refiners
• Launch equipment (railgun)

Instructions

1. Deploy one square kilometer of solar collectors to provide energy to run miners and refiners.
2. Use miners to strip-mine the surface of the planet and refiners to extract valuable elements and fabricate them into swarm satellites.
3. Launch swarm satellites using railgun launch equipment.
4. Take advantage of exponential growth using the energy of existing parts of the swarm to build more infrastructure on Mercury and launch new panels faster and faster.
5. Within about 60 doubling times, the Sun would be completely surrounded by solar panels.
6. Collecting 1% of the Sun's energy would create the infrastructure to provide unlimited amounts of energy for interstellar civilization.
