Home-Style Shredded Chicken and Gravy over Mashed Potatoes (Original video)
Ingredients:
Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Cracked black pepper
Kosher salt
Oil
Butter
Chicken base
All-purpose flour
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Chicken broth
Water
Instructions:
Cut boneless, skinless chicken breasts into thinner pieces for faster cooking.
Season chicken breasts with cracked black pepper and kosher salt.
Cook chicken breasts in a skillet until they reach 165°F internal temperature.
Remove chicken from skillet and add butter, chicken base, flour, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until combined.
Pour in chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the pan. Add water and whisk until smooth.
Shred the cooked chicken into larger pieces.
Add shredded chicken back to the skillet with the gravy and simmer until thickened.
Serve the chicken and gravy over mashed potatoes.
Adjust seasoning if needed and serve with peas and garlic bread on the side.
