In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add shortening and crumble it with the flour until it resembles sand.
Slowly pour in hot water while mixing until a sticky dough forms.
Knead the dough for 5 minutes until soft.
Pat oil on the dough, cover, and let it rest for 20 minutes.
Divide the dough into small balls, roll them out into circles, and place on a damp kitchen towel.
Roll out each ball into thin tortillas on a floured surface.
Cook the tortillas on a preheated comal until they blister, then flip and cook for another 10 seconds.
Remove the tortillas when they bubble and are soft.
Repeat the process until all dough is used.
