Homemade Flour Tortillas

Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 6 tablespoons shortening, lard, or butter
- 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
- Salt (to taste)
- 2 cups hot water
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add shortening and crumble it with the flour until it resembles sand.
- Slowly pour in hot water while mixing until a sticky dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5 minutes until soft.
- Pat oil on the dough, cover, and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- Divide the dough into small balls, roll them out into circles, and place on a damp kitchen towel.
- Roll out each ball into thin tortillas on a floured surface.
- Cook the tortillas on a preheated comal until they blister, then flip and cook for another 10 seconds.
- Remove the tortillas when they bubble and are soft.
- Repeat the process until all dough is used.
