Easy Apple Pie

Ingredients
- 3 pounds of apples (Granny Smith and Honeycrisp)
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon
- Optional: allspice, mace, cardamom, cloves
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1 egg
- Granulated sugar for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples.
- Mix apples with sugar, flour, lemon juice, nutmeg, cinnamon, and optional spices.
- Roll out one round of pastry and place it in a pie dish.
- Fill the pie crust with the apple mixture, dot with butter.
- Roll out the second round of pastry and create a lattice crust on top.
- Brush the pastry with beaten egg and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
- Bake at 425°F for 20 minutes, then reduce heat to 375°F and bake for about 50 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow the pie to cool to room temperature before serving. Enjoy!
